Dont dig!
Sorry...

Looks kinda cool, but I think you should separate the words (hurts to purr) to make 'em more readable.

what does the moon have to do with it?
- bulletfactory0
i agree with dippy....
i noticed that when the band name runs together "stop" jumped out at me -
hurtSTOPurr

the client didn't like it either...
i am starting to hate their name...
- warheros0
yeah, what do the moons have to do with the band? doesnt make me want to like the band or listen to their music.
- warheros0
maybe a freaked out cat that is hurting to purr....with some crazy vectors i dont know.
sounds like a harder band, so shouldnt the image be rough and dirrrty?

your portfolio is so impressive - i'm confused.
is this really thompson - or are you an imposter?!
- mr_snuggles0
Maybe try an image of a cat nailed to a crucifix or somethin', but maybe that's too obvious/literal.

Hey Thompson. I have some advice for you:
1. NEVER ask anybody in here about what they think about your designs, as they think there the dog's bollocks.
2. Trust your own gut.
Do this and you'll go far!
Cheers.

I still appreciate the comments
I'd rather get negative feedback than none at all. There are some valid points made.
In fact, the client does not like it. It is a pro-bono job that I am trying to fit into my schedule.
Hurts To Purr is a three piece band. Think Norah Jones or Fiona Apple.
To Me, the name is problematic. It is very abstract and a little confusing, but they don't want any cat imagery.
The moon phases for me alluded to nature and animal instinct in a subtle way and was also quiet and romantic without being feminine or to flowery.
It has been a challenge to settle on something that can capture the feeling of the band.
My other interpretation of "Hurts To Purr" is that it is easier to be agressive and negative, than tender and charming.

Honestly I never give a shit if the image relates to the name. A huge part of a design's appeal can be in the connection the viewer is trying to make for themselves. A lot of people reject ideas they don't immediately understand. But the name has to be readable or understood as 3 separate words. At least for now, while trying to get the name out.

i think it's a start..
take a few of the most dramatic stages of the moon, and blow them up bigger.
separate the individual words but i think the type can be even smaller. right now you have a bunch of small individual objects, there's no contrast.
nah mean?
