wtf!! arghhh
I have 2.5 Gigs RAM on a G5 dual processor, and itunes keeps randomly stalling songs, while it is processing ? (stops for a sec then continues, sounds like a skip)
I have fuck-all open, it doesnt make any sense?
anyone else come accross this with itunes? the files im playing are just mp3's on my HD (the files are fine)
Its only started doing it recently, bloody annoying
any ideas!?

Repair your disk permissions.

cocktail that shit. usually removes sluggishness from the entire system.

ok cheers
wouldnt it be sluggish in all apps if that was the case tho ?
thanks :)

itunes is more disk intensive than most other apps, since it is frequently reading off the drive.
- blackspade0
yea but lets be realistic, it shouldnt be doing this
its a G5 with 2.5G of RAM for christs sake
even my old G4 450Mhz doesnt do this, ..with more apps open!
just repaird disk permissions, didnt help at all
have the activity monitor open, nothing strange is happening when it stalls either
makes no sense! really pissing me off :(

i think you need to optimise your disk with nortons speed-disk. i've read and been told that OSX disks don't get fragmented but i think that's possibly complete krappe. try it and see. i could be totally wrong but i don't always believe the PR paperwork and mp3s are a shitload of small files spread all over the hard-disk (i don't mean visable file structure there either). try it and see.
