howdy, I want to get a client a Word>PDF converter (relatively cheaply) . There are quite a few with a range of prices but I have never used any of them so would like some recommendations.
also, are there any other decent off-the-shelf CMS besides contribute?
cheers one, two and three

how about flash paper?

good call. I had forgotten about that. Does it have optimise for web/print options etc? Is it easy to use? The client isn't exactly a wiz and I don't want to spend more than a day teaching him Contribute etc.

unfit, that may be the ticket. cheers

No no no, we get pdf 995 stuff submitted here at work and 90% of the time it won't go through the printers or the rip without dropping out portions or fonts going bad as it fails to embed em properly.... seriously with PDFs it should be adobe or bust.

never had a problem with it.

sorry I should have explained more. It is just for a client to convert word docs to pdf for publishing to web. There will be very little formatting and no layout as such. They will be academic papers etc.
I reckon what unfit suggested should be fine.
and I can at least try it out for free.
