huh?

uh... not that hard of a question.

i bought and use that... no problems... virus protection updates daily. firewall always lets you know a new port is opening - for AOL IM or whatever...
$99 for peace of mind is good value for money.

nice work.

I'm not sure Norton Internet Security really does anything beyond what the built-in firewall does (apart from extra options or reporting maybe).
But thats nothing to do with Virus protection...for that you want Norton AnitVirus or Virex. AntiVirus seems more complete for scanning all incoming files and quarantining... (not that there are many Mac viruses..)
- ribit0
oh it includes AntiVirus..thats the best bit...

thanks for the kind words!
and thanks for the feedback...i just recently strated gettting bounce-back emails which i didn't send, but they have my email addy as the "reply-to" address, which usually means a virus, no? sux...
:/

that may not necessarily vbe your mac playing up but rather your isp being affected by viruses. they scan their servers find YOUR email address and fire shit out from it. It sux but to be honest i dont think anything can be done about it. ISPs need to keep up on it. don't know if the big ones, mediatemple and the like, sudffer from it but my personal server does as does my one at work... they're running on Windows.....

at least we warn eachother.

don't spend any money on new Symantec/ Norton products for Mac OSX.. they've already announced they won't be developing Systemworks for Tiger, and i would imagine the rest of their Mac products will see little development.
- Neuarmy0
shit. so what's the answer timg?
- timg0
honestly, most will argue that a legit Mac OSX virus does not exist. but if you really want something.. try ClamXav, its free:

(notice even the developer admits there are no known OSX viruses!)
personally i don't use anything.. just Little Snitch to keep an eye on Trojans and Spyware:

I find AntiVirus useful (at least to identify the Windows viruses so I dont pass on any infected files)...but I wouldnt recommend Systemworks/Norton utilities. Tech Tool Pro seems to be Apple's choice now (they use Tech Tool on Applecare CD.... And they supply Virex on .Mac

I guess it's a bit lax to pressume that nothing will ever affect OSX. I was arround when the last virus hit mas back in 98-99. Used to use Virex in the OS9 days and think they are still best.

Back in the day of MacFormat magazine giving away free floppies with shareware on, I sufffered from severe virus problems. Files erased, system folder was corrupted.
Finally they supplied Disinfectant (remember that?), and when I ran it, I picked up on 50 viruses on my Mac.
Thankfully, I've never seen that again. I tend to use Virex these days, as it came with my Mac account, and hasn't let me down yet...
