witch font do you use for heads?
- abizzyman0
maybe it depends on the story too...
... I've done my share of magazines... and I gotta say that the font either is consistent through-out the mag and relays the same emotion (sexy, designy, arty, classic etc. etc.).... soooooo
... uhhh... hmmm
bah... so many to chooose from. A nice serif is always a safe bet. Perhaps a comfy palatino, a lovely garamound... or even a crisp calisto.
... I prefer to avoid the sans fonts as body... something about them feels cheap.

have you thought about a custom face based on some styles that you like?
if this thing is going to be as big as arena/ gq etc it will be worth it.
these guys will look at what your thinking about, propose some ideas, and then when your happy they will supply you with a full custom family.

memphis look too much like courier/geometric type too me.
Its not for one specific article but the font to use in all the body txt of the magazine.
I nead to make a proposition with a serif font and one without.
I got some nice suggestions so far maybe some more?

thx for the daltonmaag link, nice site. However we dont have time to get a custom font. Garamon and palatino are too classic. I want something not to flashy but not something you see everywhere...

try out Memphis or some sort of slab serif - it looks unusual and is very easy to read.

don't really see it too much and the bolder weights would be quite nice for headlines.

Whats the title of the article? that would help recommandations.

Adobe Minion is a nice serif for setting body copy. Not sure if its quite the style you are looking for but its less traditional then Garamond, and it has a ton of options, regular, semi bold, bold, italics, caption subhead, small caps, ligs.
Actually Bringhurst set The Elements of Typographic style in Minion.
