any ideas on what you might rake in salary wise as a junior/middleweight graphic designer in London for an in house team for a well known corp? Or even any company for that matter? Oop North you're looking at about 15-17k a year

cheers - still dunno what to do - money wise isn't much difference after cost of living etc., I like the work I'm doing up here but the job down there would be more secure, "brand" company but in house (i.e. same stuff day in day out) would look good on CV tho. jumping ahead like as I haven't even got it yet!

No matter what you are working on - its all shit at the end of the day!
I want out of the industry - but what else can I do??
Floristry sounds good at the moment!

So true.... our industry is probably the most under appreciated in terms of financial rewards... London is not all that it is cracked up 2 be.... If you do get a web design job which are very few n far between ...your start off salary will be laughable before you prove yourself (don't be expecting vey much more then you are on at the mo...!!) And the cost of living in london is ridiculous... I am paying in the region of £550-£600 for a bedroom in a shared house.. RANT...RANT..RANT... think carefully if the big smoke is for you....

well, i must say, i've got a fair idea when it comes to salaries, having worked in three continents in my tenure, and been involved within the marketing and strategy setup since 1989. i'm currently taking a sabbatical from that, but i held down a managerial capacity in charge of 14 high end individuals,1 gay, 1 black disabled(clubfoot)and i was earning £56k, that's about 80000 euros, or for the pigshit yankees on here approx. $104,000. goddamn, cleatus! send me a mail if you like,i can scope out some prices with some of my friends in the business, junior designer did you say?

I hear you karlo - I have mates that did fook all in the way of uni, college or gaining any "further education" now, after doing some apprenticeships they're all earning 27k+ a year! Trades, good old fashioned trades is where it's at - plumber, sparky, joiner etc. etc. Plus cost of living up here is cheap as hell so they're fairly well off in realtive terms...

Can you just move that 2mm to the left?
Can you change it to white?

Karlo, right about now sounds like a good time to get a hobby - with no relation to graphic / design. Or a drink, whichever you aquire first.
- karlo0
I like playing music, drinking beer and giving ladies some lovin!
What else is there apart from that??
- phatlee0
haha....you sound just like me karlo. The trouble I'm having is what else could I do!?!?
What annoys me the most is pitching and costing. Its so time consuming and if the client doesn't like a particular photo you've used then thats it....balls ups!!??!?! AAAARRRGGHHHH... don't they realise its not the finished product....cunts!!!!
rant over
for now....
........meanwhile, lets look at more stocks and different formats....WHY!!?!?!?
is the paper white!??! at the end of the day the clients gonna want a saddle stich piece of shit....
AARRRGGGHHHH
I need a drink.....
fucking clients.......
I need a career change.....
No, I cant use that logo as a gif...

rc-racing in crowded subways, home-baking and long walks by the seaside, how would I know? Go find something by not using google. But keep the mentioned beer, it will be easier to explain to the cops that you fitted an upskirt-camera on that rc.
- karlo0
sorry to be thick... what is RC Racing??

I recon you'd be getting 17-19 depending of the level of work you're producing. Maybe a little more if you arrive and blow the socks of people with your interest and skill. In my exp, cool companies pay less than not so cool ones particulalrly at the beginging of your career.

15 to 17k pounds obviously. Man, even that in London, that can't be much.
