Does anyone know of any app conflicts/
suggestions why my iPod is being a pain in the ass?
Its literally been a paperweight on my desk for a month - HELP!

Using any other firewire devices? Are they daisy-chained together? Have you made any changes to your iPod? Also have you considered restoring your ipod back to factory settings?

Sorry, didnt mention that I restored it like 5 times, just incase - And I'm not using any other firewire devices - could the port be fucked?

Funny. I just posted the exact same thing under "iPod No Connecty"
My FW port shows up fine in my Apple Sys Profiler. I think it's FW reader on the iPod. Not my comp.

If other firewire devices work just fine when plugged into the same port just take your ipod to the nearest store and get it exchanged. Thats probably your best solution.

Have you ever connected your iPod, waited like 10 damn minutes, and then when nothing happens, unplug it, and THEN iTunes comes up, u get a prompt that it wasn't ejected properly, and a note about an iPod update? Its all messed up.

When I plug in my ipod it comes up with in seconds.. There should be no need to wait "10 damn minutes" for your ipod to come up.

well if that wasn't the case of 10 damn minutes I wouldn't be posting this thread now would I?
- nuarmy0
Sorry about that.. I miss read what you wrote. Anyhow. Thit seems like a problem my girlfriend was having. Have you updated itunes? Also if you can back up your stuff I would sugguest an archive and install.

Are there any things to look out for when connecting/disconnecting with FW. I know that with the USB 2.0 a message will appear on the iPod screen saying do not disconnect.
Should the same rules apply to FW? Or is it okay to unplug without actually ejecting/unmounting your iPod?
- nuarmy0
:/ You should always eject it. Don't just unplug it, especially if its playing a song or something. Thats a surefire way to fuck up your ipod.

yo nuarmy -
Yeah man, iTunes is up to date and I had nothing serious on my pod, I restored that bitch like literally 5 or 6 times in a row - the thing is that when it says its restoring to factory settings, thats not really true - it maintanes the latest software update, and I do believe when I updated it to the last 1 or 2 updates THATS when it started shitting on me - I guess I gotta go waste my damn time and bring it to the Apple store - what a waste of an afternoon (f******ck!)

Most of the time they'll just give you a new ipod on the spot. thats what they did for mine when the hold button crapped out. I've got a love/hate relationship with my ipod.

i installed firewire and usb2 in my pc and when i plugged into firewire, it said update ipod, and then forced me to restore... it may be the drivers for your usb/firewire ports.
