i recently moved to a little town in georga called forsyth. why? because i got a badass deal on a big-ass house.
anyway, im dying over here on dialup, and from what i've gathered so far, all broadband i can get is satellite.
it's soo expensive. is it even worth it? or should i keep looking for dsl/cable? i think i am almost out of luck...argle bargle!

Maybe you can build a big antenna and get wireless access (pointing towards the city). You can get all the stuff you need from RadioShack...I'm serious..

oh, the lowest price i found for satellite internet was $50/mo. and no, there's no cable tv, we have satellite tv, too.
and what's this about a big antenna?

You can build a signal booster for super cheap - it looks like an big aluminum tube and you run it into a wireless card..actually, I got free internet while in school by aiming one made out of coffee cans at an NYU dorm.

wow
don't know if it will work though. closest city with mostly wireless is about 20 miles away. i think

blame it on bush -- he initially had this initiative to spread broadband. while some subverb in texas where the rich built this community benefited from the broadband initiative and its budget, many small towns have not -- no broadband and sometimes they even have to call long-distance to dial-up.

yeah i blame everything on bush. it's easy ;)

seriously, while i'm trying to be positive about this, i don't think the man who calls it "internets" can do much about the technology.

check this site out and see if it's an option..
i'm utterly surprised forsyth doesn't have a cable tv company out there.. comcast doesn't reach?
still $50 a month for Satellite.. what's the speeds for that connection.. $50 isn't a bad price if you are getting broadband around 1-3 Mbps.. if it's like ISDN or something then screw it and wait..
