Canon A vs S Series

    Anyone got a quick opinion on one series vs the other? My parents mentioned maybe getting me a digital for Christmas and I'm debating A95 or s500... looks like the A95 has a manual mode that the s500 doesn't have.

    I'm figuring I have to hang around the $300 mark, and can maybe squeeze the A95 in there if they buy from ebay (new).

    Anyone with any thoughts?
