then I think you should host it but when the renewl date comes up tell him he will have to pay for it then

If he's providing prints, you may want to foot the bill for a year's worth of hosting...

You say prints. Do you mean the original, with the album, etc, or copies? He's not charging me for the orignial prints in the album. Part of the package deal.

thats a good point.. you'll have to pay for prints.. he'll have to pay for the hosting..

I only say this coz it's happened to me. I felt sick having to sort out my (old muthaf*ckin) client when his year was up.
I didn't like him in the end at all and having to make calls to the host to renew it all just made me puke.

Yup, deffo get him to look after the hosting. Although you are trading services if you 'host-up' everything in your name (and credit card) then when the renewal date comes around again it'll be down to you to sort (and pay for again?!)
Who knows what may happen between now and next year. You may have a fall-out which will make it hard to sort the refreshing of the hosting package.
Get him to make you administrator for the hosting deal, make his site, upload it and forget about it. Let him worry about whether he wants to keep it online for future years.

if you bought me a high end cell phone, and i bought you a PDA, i wouldnt expect you to pay for my monthly plan too!
he did the photography, you made the site... and hooked it up to the server for him... he can pay for the minimal hosting... unless you can just piggyback it off your server since it wont be getting many hits...

I am trading services with a friend of the family. He's doing some photography work for my wedding, in exchange for a simple website for his business. Nothing fancy, mostly informative.
I am wondering how to get him actually on the web. Should I tell him that he has to shell out $$$ for a hosting plan (ICDSoft.com), or flit the bill for that myself, seeing as we are trading services.
Thanks for any input.
