hey folks..
just thought i'd share the news..
like many of you out there, i've finally gone and started my own little enterprise..over the past year ot two, the fulltime gig was getting less and less enjoyable..
we'd been bought and sold so many times i'd lost count...
every quarter their were layoffs, and by this summer, out of the original 80 or so people i started with, only about 7 or so remained..
it was pretty dire...
anyhow, the next round of layoffs happened, and my number finally came up..
then they turned around, and like so many big companies these days, they asked if i'd be interested in contract work..
(lucky me...a lot of the guys i worked with had their jobs sent to India.....-which is kinda funny since about half ARE indian..i told em when my wife and i go for a visit to her relatives, i'd check and see how thier jobs are doing..- ;)anyhow..
the contract was for a month, and i worked supporting the marketing dept.
best month of work i'd had in ages...
fast paced, and tons of print...they dug my work so much that at the end of the month they asked if i'd be interested in becoming one of their main suppliers for design..
then there's my old boss..the guy that originally hired me there..
he's got a new company now, and has brought me on board to be the senior CD...still not sure if' i'll go in 100% with him, or just have him contract the work out to me...
either way tho..
things are looking pretty great so far...i'd always planned to start my own company one day..
just didn't think it would be this soon..
but between the 7 or 8 marketing people giving me work, and my old boss and all his clients, it looks as though it's as good a time as any..anyhow, this post wasn't to brag or to boast about anything..
mostly it was to update some of you on whats been happnening with me lately...
...
other than that, my wife is back teaching after a year of maternity leave, and my daughter is now about 15 months old and cute as a button
:)cheers guys!
