makes you wonder definitely...
moby saw those dollar signs after making play. he went on to make a whole album of songs for ads.
i've always had a bit of a problem with musicians spouting anti capitalism and 3rd world debtthis and that when they're so unimaginably wealthy.
U2 sucks anyway. gonna buy me a phat iriver dood.

am i the only one that thinks this is great advertising?
and you call yourselves designers? ;p

a couple facts:
1) U2 is Steve Jobs favorite band
2) this video is by Logan (current QBN Certified)

oh it's good advertising, nice design and all. but it's U2. I mean, they are definitely in need of publicity with a new album coming out, but maybe if there was some good music on it, they wouldn't have to be in iPod commercials. After all, they aren't the biggest supporters of capitalism if I do remember correctly. Oh well, they can really do whatever they want and probably won't lose THAT much credibility.

like anyone should 'really' care or put Bono on the block FOR ACTUALLY BELIEVING IN SOMETHING AND DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THAT... looks cool w/ the best riff since zooropa - they're just trying to get some 'cred' being associated with the coolest, smallest tech toy in years.
they're both businesses, after all. [i can't stand U2...much - but what's w/ all the cynicism?]
- toe-knee0
random, you make it sound like U2 paid apple for the privalege.. I doubt that

i just love it!
the song, the commercial, the band....sorry 'bout that :-)

It's an iconic band in an company ad that has an iconic brand and iconic ad. Don't think they could of picked anyone bigger really. Good stuff.

Funny how graphic design is a commercial art-form that supports and promotes Capitalism and YOU guys being designers are hypocrites... something I've noticed in many ambiguous arguments on PVN

RIP! Hhahaa...
It's interesting. It could seriously backfire though...

(oct 13 04, 02:12)Just because he does it on a "daily bases" (and most of us don't?) and he has a stronger voice than probably all of us, it doesn't make you a saint for taking the piss, I don't like their music and wouldn't buy their album, but I won't say I'm better because I'd be a hypocrite too.
- toe-knee0
haha, talk about making up words, when did I say I'm better? I have a right to comment on someone who isnt being true to the words that they preach. He has pushed his anit capitalism stance for years, and to me, right now it looks like that was all just a cheap marketing ploy to get his face on TV.
He has every right to do a commercial with apple, just like I have every right to critise him for being a total hypocrite. He cant try and profit from both sides if his previous public face has been so far on one side for his entire career

"He has pushed his anit capitalism stance for years, and to me, right now it looks like that was all just a cheap marketing ploy to get his face on TV."
I'll admit that comment was a little harsh, he has done alot of good, but this is not one of his or his bands better moves
- sweetasbro0
of course you have the rights to, but if you are not saying you're better than them then why do you "comment" on him with such a political correctness tone in the first place? you can't be saying you're worse than him or even on the same level now, are you? ;p
- toe-knee0
So you have to be a perfect human being before you can comment on someone else... ok.. I'll be quite now... The Pope doesnt masterbate but I do so Im not aloud comment on him
- JamesEngage0
Because he apparently goes on about being anti-capatilist, he should therefore give his albums away for free too.

calm down boys. Chances are that Apple products were used at some point during the production of their album... They make tools for creativity. They enable bands like U2 to make videos, music, whatever the fuck they want.
You can only take that capitalist crap so far before it becomes a muddy mess.
If he'd done a ad with BP or Shell I might see cause for complaint.
- sweetasbro0
No, I'm not saying that, it's just funny when someone call someone else a hyprocrite when he/she themselves are slave to the very same master...
Do you want to change the world? then quit your design job and do something about it... oh, you don't want to? well, don't call another artist a hyprocrite because it's pointless
- moth0
The world's not that black and white.
