"Pete, I have a client who is starting a business and setting up a website to sell a product. The business will have a unique name, but the product has a very common product name like "soap" or "cereal" (he has a non-disclosure agreement or I'd tell you the word). He wants to know if there is some way to make sure that when people search the internet for this common word that his website comes up first or near the top of the hits... this without paying for sponsorship on Yahoo or anything like that. I've told him one of the best ways is to incorporate the name in the domain, as in soapcerealnow.com. Do you know, or know anyone who knows, how to best get your site to appear at the top or on the first page of search results?"
what should I tell this guy?
