Hey, I saw a demo on the adobe site where you can drag text into a shape and the text will conform to it. How the hell do you do that? It's not warp text, either...
- rob_pc0
just use the "area type tool"
make a shape...a circle....copy text....paste onto shape
- cyberthug0
Let me clarify: I need the text shape to conform to the shape of the object - ie. jesus fish...
- rob_pc0
So, do you mean for the text to follow the outline of the fish?
or
for the text to fill the interior space of the fish, producing a fish object comprised of the text?

does the adobe demo tell you???
- cyberthug0
yes, this:
for the text to fill the interior space of the fish, producing a fish object comprised of the text

Just click inside any drawn shape with the type tool and start typing.

I'm talking about this:
- rob_pc0
So, that is what I first was talking about....
Create your fish looking oject.
On the tool pallete, click on the text tool, that shows the "T" within a space or area, known as the "Area Type Tool".
Move the cursor over to the fish object and hover the cursor over the edge of the fish object, and click.
Either copy paste text into the area or start typing.
The text should form into the fish object.
I can't upload any images from work, but I'll look for any tuts online to help explain further if this doesn't help.

oooops, just saw you last reply....
nevermind what I just said, now i understand...
use the "Envelope Distort" tool under Object. Either choose the "Make with Warp" or "Make with Top Object"
- rob_pc0
So type the word "distort"
on top of the word, create any object you want to use...a fish shape, just make sure that the fish shape is one solid object
and make sure the fish object is on top of the word "distort"
go to Object" Make wityh top object and it should work...
