when i was up there two weeks ago i stayed at the hilton millinium which overlooked ground zero. it was a bit haunting waking up each morning and seeing what i knew to be the burial ground for thousands of innocent lives. lives that were taken with no warning. it kind of bugged me to see small stands set up nearby selling shirts and other 9/11 memorabilia.
this picture shows what ground zero will look like in about five years. two hollowed areas where the towers stood as a reminder of that tragic day and a memorial for those who lost love ones there.

A filling of the void left behind by light is truly a beautiful reminder. Leave it on.

well - i figured tehy woudl have em up as a memorial - but cybrain said tehy were up on the 6th and i saw them taht night - then i went to take pics myself tonight and tehy were out.. i figured tehy would at least be on for this whole weeekned.. but no... it was just an RNC stunt :/ p0nks!

Very impressive.
I don't agree at all they they should be on all the time. It would lose a lot of it's impact, I think, especially during the day.Not to turn this into a politics thread *looks for QBN over shoulder* but I think it was incredibly tastless to hold the RNC in New York. The only people they were fooling with that stunt are probably going to vote for them. :\

so i guess tehy were only on for the RNC? :'( gross

I've heard the expense of keeping those lights on are tremendous. My photos were taken from the corner of 6th Ave. and West 12th Street on the lucky 13th floor.
