display size for webpages

Hi fellas,
I've been working in print for the last 4 years, and got a question on webdesigin,
used to be that to be "safe" the pages back then were designed to fit a 800 pixel width or something like that.
For todays standards, what size are pages done?? Thanks for your help

In-deed reinvigorates pretty reliable also.
still most of the times its just
peeps with fancy LCD 17" screens and dont now shit about screen resolutions.
