flash picture quality

common problem...when I try to rotate a picture in flash, even slightly, it looks all funky when exported. This has been on my nerves for a while, and I usually have to make an image in Photoshop, rotated just right, and then import that into flash. But then I saw a rotated picture on a site that looks fine. Any suggestions?

there is a 99% trick where you set the image's alpha to 99% and it helps the image quality out quite a bit. Try it...

thanks phirschybar, tried that trick, didn't really do what I was hoping...Is that just a general trick, or does it help for certain things? Any other ideas, anybody? I'm sure someone has come across this problem...

whats the original quality like? make sure you are setting your JPG export quality at 100%

oh yeah.. i forgot export quality. that def. helps. The 99% tricks really helps me when I am animating images or when I have an object floating in front of an image... Sometimes the image gets these weird ghost-like anomalies and 99% clears it right up... try the export quality at 100

i came across that problem, too, when working on a film strip that had to animate at an angle.
what i discovered was simple.. but took a long time to discover it: just import a swf with that jpeg into the parent swf. you will have to target a movieclip that is animated -- or rotated -- within the parent clip.

Thanks for posting this question, it inspired me to look for a solution and I found it...
The problem only occurs when the playhead is moving while the image is rotating whether it's by code or a manual tween.
If you rotate with code and make sure the playhead is stopped (on all timelines) your image will look fine, no 99 alpha tweaks or anything else needed!

Small update, the playhead can keep playing on any timelines at the same level or below the rotating image mc but anything above it seems to muck things up. For example:
_root.image_mc is rotating via code
If the playhead is moving on the _root timeline the image will get jaggy but if it is stopped all will be fine. Any other mcs at _root or below can animate without affecting the image quality.
Not sure if that makes sense, let me know!

thanks for the ideas casey...Is this info posted somewhere, or just what you came up with? Have you had this problem before too?
It seems that your idea is worth checking into, but I'm pretty sure the site I posted uses basic tweening to rotate, and their picture still looks great...(the bull riders)
