What Would You Do?
5 months ago I was contacted about designing a site (re-design) for a City in the suburbs of Chicago. 4 months later (in July) they contact me and want the site live by August 1st. Many late nights later I get what I can finished because I'm waiting on info from them. Mainly news, and the info for online bill paying.
Now being almost a month later and I haven't spoken with them in 3 weeks, (I have 1/2 payment up front and a contract) they send me a word document they want live on their existing site (which was not in the contract) and they want me to push what I have live to.... how did they put it... "inspire us to finalize the paperwork for online bill payment."
My thoughts. Over my dead fucking body.
1) Working on the existing site was not in the contract.
2) I'm not pushing the site live so they can sit on it for another 3 months with me not getting paid. What would you do? I'm about to go apeshit on them and give them a piece of my mind, but I thought I'd run it past you all first.
Discuss.

fack em.
Review the contract over the phone with the person in charge. explain clearly that you will need to revise the contract if they want to proceed.
or
just stick a foot in their ass.

Yo Bio, play it cool. I don't want to read about your rampage on the top of the bell tower with a high powered rifle and a ball of twine on the news.

lol. just tell them you can't hand over a product which was not completely paid for. do the extra work if you want to (on your server) after they've agreed to the extra fee you quote them.
i'm so lucky...my client are reasonable, prompt and a pleasure to work with.
good luck with these guys

write a new contract for finishing the work, but charge them double because it is a hassle on you end..... or just pee in the town water supply.
- mrdobolina0
Kona, just tactfully tell them that this is out of your written agreement.
- k0na_an0k0
Done. In a 'tactfull' manner as well.
Their response was less than tactfull. Bastards. Oh well. At least now they know who's boss.
muhahahhaha!
- gruntt0
anonymously mail them a pooped hammer.
- k0na_an0k0
Damn. That means I have to eat a hammer first and well, I ate them all last week.
*Runs out to Ace to buy hammers
- flickster0
I'd have a clown dressed midget deliver the hammer.
