"Eminent world scientists have voted Ridley Scott's Blade Runner the best science fiction film to date."
Further down the article it says:
'Mr Minger, from King's College, London, said: "Blade Runner is the best movie ever made."'
I've never seen Blade Runner!

then you're incomplete.

I thought the effects were amazing, but the story and script were weak.........

I must get the DVD. I saw some footage of it on telly the other day. It doesn't looked dated at all. Has anyone read 'Do androids dream of electric sheep' - the book on which it is loosely based?

I remember reading a news article a while back quoting the director of Bladerunner (20 years later). He said that Harrison Fords character was actually a replcant (robot)! crazy! Thats a twist ending they never really explained...

Howly what?!
I've not been so shocked since an American friend asked me who Bill Hicks was.I think it's due for a re-release soon on DVD.

awesome flick, one my top ten no doubt, Rutger Hauer in that movie just plain kicked ass!

first time i've seen nipples in a movie was that movie

it's in my top 5 for sure - lighting and sound effects brilliant, script & plot brilliant, subtexts brilliant, ridley scott brilliant.
the "harrison ford was a replicant" idea can be seen if you take the red eye effect to mean you are looking at a replicant. at one point Dekkard has red eyes which adds an extra dimension to the film...
that line where rutger hauer says "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain." is one of my favourite moments in film ever

Neo Tokyo, Cybernetics, Harrison Ford... Excellent
First 'R' rated movie I was allowed to see as a child.
I believe it is what kick-started my love of everything tech.

wow the whole point of the film is answering the "is deckard a replicant" question.
the philip k dick book (do androids dream...) is quite good but i think of it as a different entity. there are so many differences between film and book that you don't really end up comparing the two all that much.

I'd rather be a killer than a victim.

aye, the soundtrack is on heavy rotation and inspiration here.
love the film to bits. *hugs bladerunner*
the origami unicorn really pointed towards deckard being a replicant.

It was on tv last night. The original voice over the studio had Harrison Ford do was terrible. You can tell by his voice that he didn't want to do it. It drives me crazy when I see that version. He basically tells the viewer everything that happens on screen.

Yeah, this films rocks hard. Inspired Gibson on Neuromancer, kick started cyberpunk, its all good. Watch out for the millenium falcon as a building! Also check out Rugter Hauer's (sp?) dialogue, apparently he ignored what the script said and practically improvised his daialogue for the whole film. Such a badass movie!

Here's the latest on the new dvd coming out
"Sources are telling us that Warner is FINALLY at work once again on a Blade Runner: Special Edition. That's the good news. The bad news is that instead of the 3 or 4-disc ultimate edition we all hoped for (featuring all the different versions of the film), the title is now likely to be one of the studio's 2-disc editions, featuring only the recent "director's cut" version of the film (remastered from a new HD transfer), the Channel 4 On the Edge of Blade Runner documentary and perhaps a few other odds and ends. Look for it sometime in the first half of 2005."
Too bad they won't be coming out with the big box set. That would have been awesome.
