I'm a german art director and I'm thinking about moving to south africa for some time to work in cape town.
Is anyone from SA subscribed here? could anyone provide some advice about what to take care of? problems? experiences? important contacts?
please contact me via email, or drop a line in here ... thanks :)

Cape Town's better looking than London.
I'd go given half the chance.

hmm...1,600 feet vert eh, nothing huge but a hell of a lot bigger than i would expect for SA, pretty high elevation at 9,000 feet tho.
whats the snow like there when it falls?... must be some pretty sick untracked backcountry riding... I take it that area is fairly untracked to the masses?

When I was there from '97 till '00, there was plenty of snow. I never actually saw it come down, it's more due to the fact that they are so high in the air that it stays on the hillsides due to the temperature etc. Also visit Oxbow in Lesotho if you get a chance. Not bad:
Vertical Drop: 700m/2,296'
Top Elevation: 2,600m/8,528'
