Anyone using one of these?
Any suggestions on the best one to get. I need FM transmitter and power together.
Any recommendations. Thanks in advance.

i just use a tapedeck cd-player adapter thingey. works like a charm. new 4gs dont need the powerpod as much as the older ones, but my girlfriend has a powerpod so her ipod is constantly charged.
i've heard that sometimes the fm transmitters are staticy and get interference. i just go with the tape if you can.

they are right about the tape issue. it gives the best clarity. HOWEVER... I just got the new Monster FM Transmitter and power cable all in one (69.00USD) and it finds the best station for you (it lights up next to any one of i think 8 or 12 stations) and u just place ur FM tuner on that station and drive away. I was skeptical at first since every other FM tranmitter has sucked ass, even the itrip is garbage i think in comparison to the sound quality that I am getting from this monster transmitter.

i dunno id rather get the tape deck adapter thing for liek $15 :P

if you live in bumble fuck- the FM transmitter works like a charm... if you live in a city it's an overpriced nightmare.

iCarPlay works fine with me and i'm from NYC.

Yea, Not that into the itrip. I live in San Francisco and it cumbersom. Very difficult to use. I just got an Aux input installed in my car. Sounds amazing. But for a few years I was using a tape adaptor. The only thing that sucks about the tape is the chord.
There is another adapter that is in the apple stores. Kind of expensive however it is a charger and fm tranmitter all in one. It looks pretty slick, no cables. I found one on "refresh" (people who have brought in opened products and apple can't reshelf them, perfect condiion you can usually get 10 - 30 bucks off depending.)

So who's using the iTrip?
I may get one for my b-day and I want time to stop my wife if I have to. :)))

I have an iTrip, and it currently takes up space in my glove compartment. Which is as useful as it will ever be.
- xaoscontrol0
really, therig? it's that bad or do you not use it?
- therig0
YES! And I couldn't make it back to the Apple Store before the 14 days, so now I'm stuck with it. A friend of had a similar product, had some issues and recommended the tape player adaptor. Only place I really got it to work was in my driveway.

I have enjoyed my iTrip.
I did a recent 3 day road trip (mostly rural) and it worked great for me.
Sometimes my wife even tuned in while driving in another car.

i fought it for a long time and used an FM modulator. i moved on and got an ITRIP which was much better. tape adapters were way worse.
BUT
even the itrip does NOT work very well even on a perfect station (for me it was 96.9)
at very best it will soundlike an OK fm radion station.spend $150 and get a head unit with auxillary inputs, or get a changer input adapter for your stock stereo.
make the jump if you are at all picky about music clarity. if you dont care, have crappy stock speakers, and are like whatever. then the itrip will be perfect.
not everyone is picky like i am

if you have a head unit in you car that has rca out...goto radioshack and by a "Y" cable that has 2 rca's on one end and a headphone jack on the other...it's like $8. nothing like a hardwire, you can get one to hook up to any/every home steroe too.

iTrip is IShit
get the tape adaptor
- kerus0
the tape adapters arent any better. all the ones i tried are in fact much worse. direct digital is the way to go
- jevad0
been using my tape adaptors and the power plug in for 6 months now - its a beaut

Any recommendations on a head unit that has a Aux input?
- xaoscontrol0
a tape adapter isn't an option for a car that doesn't come stock with a tape player.
I read a review that said that the iTrip was fine...but, of course, the only really good way was to direct connect....
- kerus0
if its itrip or nothing, by all means rock it.. but a direct connection takes a dump all over this fm modulation junk
