funny, I was supposed to receive today some jpg images that came in .dat too.
the mail headers came as it follows:
>Content-Type: application/x-macbinary; name="e doll"
>Content-Description: e doll
>Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="e doll"any clue why it transforms in dat?

I've had a few in the past that were meant to be word docs. I renamed them with .doc extensions and they worked fine.
I'm sure you could try the same with .jpg or whatever[as long as you know what format they were meant to be!]

it explains it in that link i provided, but basically renaming the file with the proper extention should work.

I tried... all jpg, jpeg, JPG, JPEG, no way...
got to ask for re-sending again, best solution... :\

same as Kodap:
it's not working even after I rename it...i'll call the guy...tomorrow...
thanx anyway!

If the file was send from OS 9 look for a second file. One will be the data and one will be the resource fork. Sometimes they show up with the same extension. The resource fork is the file for the icon display I believe. It would be the smaller file and the one you throw away.
