oh no zedvox! where are you from originally?
- k0na_an0k0
sorry to hear that but didn't you already assume that before you started looking for work?
sucks either way. hopefully some freelance comes your way.
- jevad0

^_^

i am from india.
kona what i didnt know is that you cant start working till you get the visa in your hand and also that it takes 2/4 months..and you can't really apply for it before you graduate..
and jevad thanks for the advice

dammit zedvox that sucks. i really hope you find something! i am sure you will... are you in university? are there any resources there that will help you get a job asap?
- GreedoLives0
you could always work 'freelance'.
under the table and all that.
- zedvox0
leah i just graduated...and i pretty much have to wait till i get the temp visa..i cant do freelance legally. cannot do paid internships....
whoopity doo.
anyways sorry for the whining...was just frustrated
- motormel0
so you can't get a professional job for a few months, take the time to promote yourself and show your work...for the $ how "bout restaurant work?
- laurus0
You won't get a h-1 if you haven't got a sponsor anyway.
I had a O-1 visa in the US and it took 5 months to process. I had to wait 2 more weeks after I got there until I got my social security number before I could start working.
Then I moved to the Netherlands, again I had to wait 5 months (we did make a baby) and then 4 months after we got there, until we got an ok from the 'foreigner police' (yes, really), before I could get paid.
I'm back home now and I just got an offer from the states. But I'm not going through that shit again.

i cannot work legally.
if i do under the table stuff.. i'll get deported most probably..the wankers at the immigration will ship me off to some random brown country..lol
- zedvox0
wozie!!!! laurus...are you from Netherlands?
the process for someone form india is even more stringent..cuz well we have a bad habit of spreading and living everywhere.
i do wish i get my visa in 2 months....i would very much like to get some experience before i move away

Zedvox
Please proofread your resume before sending people to your site. It's the first, and possibly the last, thing that people will see.
Also, go easy on the bold. A resume is the typographic extension of you and your design skills.
typo = no go

politics suck
- zedvox0
thanks kld!
i shall check it and make amends.

man, you of all, should know the in's and out's of those ridiculous visas. All my Indian/Paki buddies are into shady law practices to get people to stay. ;)
- zedvox0
yeah jaz...i know all about them...but i am one of those fuckers who like to do things right...i know that i have talent and i bring some good design sense to the table...i do not wanan get into the whole shady biz ..but these guys are good haha
besides its a few months..it will be hard but oh well..
- jevad0
mate - whatever you do - don't do anything illegal or shady that might put you foul of the INS or the law at a later date.
It totally sucks...but my recommendation would be to use those 4 months to really push your design skills and learn new disciplines - so that when you are able to start working you will be the shiznit.
Also would be a good idea to maybe do a bunch of made-up things for your portfolio - take it from concept to execution - and then you would have some super stuff to show employers a few months from now.
- zedvox0
thanks jevad!
i agree..i plan to use the next few months learning more about printing.and doing more projects. and build my portfolio stronger.thanks for the advice guys!
- iDp0
zed work on your site and portfolio. Then go get yourself a nice pretty girlfriend and spend sometime with 'her'. 2 - 4 months will fly bye.
- zedvox0
once again thanks guys...
its kind of scary to just start out
and make myself a better designer.
i really love this place and the feedback you guys give.
at the risk of sounding like drunk rasko, thank you NT :)
