huge bookstore - are you referring to Malaprops?
From my office I look down on that very store.

I used to live in Asheville. Some really good times there. I've always wondered if you could make a living there in the design industry?
And yes, Hatteras is the best spot on the east coast for wave, but don't tell anyone. ;)

that's the one grunnt! my wife is a young adult librarian so she is excited about sarah dessen coming to town.

72 dpi is across the street as well. Not sure if they're any good but their logo is nice.
I actually work for an agency in Boston, MA. Telecommuting is a beautiful thing.

I'm from Charlotte, reside in Salt Lake now. Spent many good days in Asheville...the Bel Chere Festivals, cruising around town, eating at the Mellow Mushroom and backpacking through Pisgah. Miss the good old south sometimes...

I just moved to Greensboro, NC about 4 months ago. Made my way to Asheville a few weeks ago for the Interpol show at the Orange Peel. That is one of the best venues I have ever been to. Didn't get to see the city much but it seemed like a cool place.

the orange peel does indeed rock.

I'm in Raleigh.. Been to Asheville a few times and totally love it.

hey ash - my girlfriend (at the time, now my wife) moved from the raleigh area to be here.
i don't miss that traffic!

gruntt, you lucky dog. How'd you get a gig like that?
I might be in Ashville over the Xmas holidays. I love it there but have wondered if it might feel too small. I already see familiar faces when I visit.
- gruntt0
monkeyshine - all i can say about the sweet gig is... nepotism.
Asheville is the best of both worlds (small town/big city). Everything that i could want from a big city (great restaurants, art community, live music 365 days a year) but with the ease of a small town (traffic is not bad, familar faces, etc). Plus in 10 minutes you can be up in the mountains a million miles away from everything.
Let me know when you'll be in town, maybe we could have drinks.

spix...looks like you are my closest designer on here. i actually go to greenvill all the time...mainly hollywood theaters.
shoot me an email if you want...

said it before - say it again
i love Asheville
maybe i'll move back to NC one day
love the beaches there too

I moved to Raleigh from Canada about 4 years ago. My only real complaint is that the beach/mountains are so far away.
