Anyone out there ever have any experience with painting styrofoam? I am having huge 3-D letterforms made and I will need to paint them. (for a window display). I know spray paint will eat the styro-foam up. Will a water-based latex applied with a roller or brush work? And by "work" I mean will it give enough coverage and give a semi-smooth surface and even color?
so many variables.
hope I don't blow this one
it will look bad ass if everything comes together.thanks!!!

maybe coat it with someting first to seal it. don't they make something like that that makes the foam hard and smooth? i saw it on tv i think.
or maybe it was used on monster house.
check into it.

someone said to NOT use "Kilz" which is a primer for house paint I believe....but there is probably something out there for foam.

use spackle...had this issue when working on a project and that was the quickest/cheapest solution.

oh, and you can use a damp sponge to smooth the spackle before you paint it..or sand it for that supa smoove effect.

Thick tempra paints will roll on it fine. It's water based but won't separate like most other paints.

do you think that is better than a latex?
I am on such a short deadline so whatever is quickest (painting and drying)

i like chicks in latex.
sorry. back to the topic....

me too, I should get that body paint latex that dries and you can then rip off to gain access to bathing suit areas and naughty parts.
