odd flash/php question

hey there.
i've made this flash navigation which is embedded in an php script and depending on what happens in that php script the the swf file will get an extra tag. e.g. menu.swf?id=1. the id value is used within flash for certain behaviour aspects.
first off when i have no preloader or whatsoever in that swf it doesn't work proper. it doesn't always do what it is supposed to do based on that id value. e.g. sometimes it behaves like id=2 when it should be id=5.
second when i build in a preloader it does work proper but it really reloads the swf fully and not from the cache. in other words: menu.swf?id=1 is a totally different file than menu.swf?id=2 according to the browser that is. since there are about 5 different options it loads the same menu 5 times which is something i'm not after.
why does the browser sees it as a different file and not the same file and loads it from the cache with the proper id number? is this a known problem and if so is there a workaround?
any help would be appreciated!
cheers!

u could use this in hte php's header:
http://www.macromedia.com/suppor…and this within the loadMovie action:
http://www.macromedia.com/suppor…

cheers mate but maybe i wasn't clear enough, i want it to be cached since it's one swf file used thruout the site. but using an extra tag forces it to fully reload it. basically i want to parse the id tag to flash without having to load it new.

u could use sessions within php, where a cached var is created and send also with the id variable to flash. it will preload the first time, but not after.
is that it?

maybe it's a typical mac / ie thing. i have this standard embed code for flash. but at the filename i have menu.swf?id=1 etc. and explorer basically sees menu.swf?id=1 as a totally different file than menu.swf?id=2 and therefore it doesn't load it from the cache (afterwards it does but i then i have to check all the menu options id thru 5).
