If you drag a folder of mps into the playlist window, your files become invisible!!! If you option-drag, you create a copy of invisible set of mp3s. Right-clicking on a song will not reveal song in finder anymore.

Well, I can't explain, but everything is working ok now. Except, I lost all my new Modest Mouse, which I was kind of enjoying.

anyone have a problem with their volume? Seems after I updated, the volume level for iTunes is really low, about half of what the rest of my system is at.

CyBrain - Did you do a search for them? Sure they're not lurking somewhere?
Tokuhon - Check your prefs > effects section for Sound Check. Maybe it wasn't on before or something?

when you upgraded did it overwrite your playlists like last time, that was pretty dumb of apple

why is there no option for folders yet? I hate that long-ass list you develop....

I did a search for my Modest Mouse and didn't find them. They were the first thing I dragged into my iTunes,The only thing I can assume is that I accidentally deleted them from the Library and not the playlist,. When you delete from your library, they're deleted from your computer for good.
I am a dumbass.
And Apple is a dumbass for killing our playlists.
