Higher DPI?

I re-created a friend's business card in Freehand and exported the file as a PDF so that he could get cards printed up. Everything's in vector format, but the printer keeps emailing him saying he needs something in a higher resolution. What? It's a fucking vector image!
I think he's reacting to how jagged all of the fonts look (they're converted to outlines). Sounds to me like he doesn't know what he's doing. Am I crazy?

no
save as a eps, maybe he is not used to pdf, then tell him to shut the fuck up

Well, he's using Kinko's, and they charge extra if you give them anything but a PDF file (which leads me to believe that he REALLY doesn't have a clue if he's never seen this before).

he's looking at the jaggedy onscreen representattion of the vector art. tell him to print it and it will look fine

I knew that - I just doubt myself sometimes.
Thanks.

if anyone else hasn't said it I think your first problem is:
"Well, he's using Kinko's,"
- autonoma0
Oh using Kinko's to make some shitty little business cards is no big deal.
Snobs.
