DIVs over SWFs

last i checked (maybe a year ago) it was not possible to get CSS elements to renter on top of a SWF... someone at work just ran into this without knowing about it, on an approved design, and is now in the process of pulling his hair out...
does anyone know of a work(/hack-)around? (the divs are menus)

you mean like drop-downs in front of a Flash file? I'm positive you can do it. ?

if that's what you mean it's just a case of stating wmode=transparent in your object http://www.macromedia.com/suppor…
Add the following parameter to the EMBED tag:
wmode="transparent"

Adobe swap the swf with a static image when you rollover their top-level menus. Looks shit though, and I'm not sure if the dropdown was in a div or not.
(Crappy) example here...

by default the menus render behind - he tried something with z-index, but i'm not sure what...
but would plain z-index setting do it?

wmode transparent setting did the trick.

i'd like to see an example of the wmode thing in action with menus. can you post one?
