Most of my jobs (fulltime and freelance) are through referrals from friends. I only get like 1 call back out of 30 resume submissions on monster, clist, and other stuff like that.
How hard is it to get a job without networking?

word of mouth works, in most cases people get jobs and they don't even deserve them IMO

yeah, they aren't bad. they only could get me min. wage work when i was starting out though. barely worth it.

i hardly ever had responses back from sending out resumes, its all who you know.
soon as i started meeting other people doing the same thing in my area stuff started to pick up

Haven't done any freelance work worth mentioning in the past year, but when I was freelancing it used to be through connections, word of mouth etc. Also - Believe it or not, but sometimes when I had a lot of time on my hands I used to write proposals and send them to potential clients, and surprisingly a lot of them said "sure, go for it".
As for the company, we have a sales person.

Excuse my language btw, I've been Easter-drinking for 3 hours straight.
