anybody have that going, with a switchbox or something? Does it work ok?

I have a similar setup, a pc an d amac on the same monitor. The switchbox is referred to as a KVM, when you're looking for one. They work reasonably well, the more advanced ones will let you share USB devices, too.

yep. my monitor has two monitor connections with a nice fluffy button on the front for switching between macs. i just use it to be fancy and snazzy, showing off and stuff. don't really need it though.

what I'd like to do:
get a new G5 and leave my G4 with OS9 so I can use OSX only when it's advantageous.I have a CRT and a flat panel I'd like to able to share on both computers

Apart from switch boxes and dual input monitors, another thing to try is remote sessions, using Apple Remote desktop or Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (free). I'm using RDC to access an XP machine from my Powerbook, works fine even when on the road, apart from slightly slow screen redraw.

We use this for a mac and pc sharing a monitor works great but watch out for static, if someone walk up to your desk and touches the desk, the switch will change,
