thanks for the responses, I'll try to nudge him towards using pixel fonts.
I think that if you are using anti aliased fonts, the cpu has to calculate all those vectors resulting in reduced performance, especialy if other animations or videos are playing as well.

i don't understand why using his fonts or anti-aliased fonts is significantly slowing down the computer (lag)..
me suspects you just like the pixel look..

yes and no. it works really well if you think with the client not against the client. doing exactly what the client wants prolly will lead to the client being unsatisfied which he/she projects to you which could lead to losing the client (worst case scenario). i would strongly suggest talking to the client and explaining the situation, the pros, the contras, give him/her all the alternatives (a solution with gifs instead of txt would be very workable). at least give the client the idea that you are a thinking with him, that you are trying to solve the problem. if he/she choose to remain the same and will run into problems later he/she won't project it on you. seriously. think about this.

Yeah just what Era said, just make the job and he'll come back to ask if you could change it and than don't forget to ask money for the changes. Clients can be irritating bastards we all know.

there's so much education that goes into working with clients. unfortunately, oftentimes, they don't want to learn and understand the limitations of technology.
give him exactly what he asks for and make recommendations when it's done.
That's all you can do. Been there, bud. I feel ya.

I'm putting together a cd rom for a client who refuses to allow pixeled device fonts to be used.
He's adamant that i use his corporate font (used on all print materials) and that it be anti-aliased.The problem is that there is a lot of text and it becomes very processor heavy and the cd lags.
Is there a better solution(besides wacking the client) than perhaps making all text a gif image?
