Perpetuity of the status quo.

Shit is about to get completely out of control over there. They're now accusing the US of making the assassination on the Hamas leader happen.
It is not going to be good. I have this horrible feeling we're about to see more violence over there than ever before. And then it's just going to be all out war with no stepping back.

how do children differentiate between killing someone in a wheelchair leaving a mosque and terrorism,

i don't know if this was good choice of action on Sharon's part.
this could throw that entire region into all out war, and in the process drawing a line in the sand that the U.S. (and the rest of the world) may have to choose which side they are on.
Israel has put us in the U.S. in a tough spot with their very aggressive assassination. Our world image is already lower than ever and this is only fueling the bubbling hatred of a new generation of Islamic youth.
How could killing an old man who started what is now a very chaotic and terrible situation going to solve the current state of conflict? It probably won't do anything but motivate the younger generations more than ever.
And all of this is somehow tied back to religion... People are dying and killing for something that noone in modern times has witnessed to exist. I'm not saying I don't believe in a higher power but I just don't understand how this has been going on for thousands of years, and doesn't seem to have any end in sight?

as I mention before...it stems from a fight that only some people in this forum think is a fairy tale, "David & Goliath." It's a holy war for the holy land. It may sound far fetched but documented. Most people hear grab information here and there and then sum it up with their own opinion expressing which side their on. But if they did their research it will lead back to that battle and there you will find your answer and find out why it is about religion.

Hasnt been happening for thousands of years, only since the Isrealis settled there

Sexypixel, why don't you go beat up some aborigines—since your people have been in Australia forever. Unlike Australia, In The area that is now Israel, there has been continues presence of Jews for the last 3000 years.
How come in all the dicussions here nobody mentions the 9 Israeli civilians that where killed by a suicide bomber sent by Yassin, just 2 days before he was killed? Why didn't that stirr anything?
why didn't anybody say then 'what's Yassin doing? it's going to light up the entire region'?
Now everybody is going on over the poor man in a wheelchair... Let me quote from the sopranoes 'he was a saint'.
Hey, I think it wasn't a smart thing to do, but not completely unjustified.
I guess in your book, Sexypixel (which I know you have nothing against as you once mentioned before) Jews just don't have the same rights as the rest of humanity.

I say they square off the holy land and sell tickets. Make it a world peace area. You can get "holy popcorn" and "sacred slushies". Story book boats would be fun.

This perpetual martyrdom certainly isn't helping anything.
I don't see any immediate solutions though, perhaps if both sides agreed to stop killing each other. The Israeli's could certainly afford to give back a little land, not to mention stop that stupid wall from going up. Palestine mostly just needs to get organized, it's pretty crazy from what I hear.
I doubt it will come to war though, Israel has the military strength to take the whole region on it's own and the way US backs them up without question.

word pascii!

Sharon is in fact a very common last name in Israel.
Nothing to be proud of since the assasination of Rabin.

laurus, i don't believe anyone here would suggest that "Jews just don't have the same rights as the rest of humanity". I'm sure sexypixel is only wishing for peace in the region the same as everyone is.
My bassist is going back to israel for recording in april. i know the sitiuation there is almost "normal" now for israelis but i'm still worried.

Didnt mean to offend, and you took me up wrong, i was talking about jewish settlements. but try and look at the bigger picture, it wasnt the cleverist of moves, nor the most sensitive of places to kill such a leader. No one is trying to justify this, just trying to make sense of it.
and i'm irish by the way, but im sure you'll try and find another atrocity to associate me with.. which will get us where?

sharon comes from the same side of the moon of where inciters and war drivers come.
you may hate me for that now:
50 years ago, such a man that brought pain and anger about his and other land.

i think the biggest problem is that israel is a state with a religion... thats so XII century!
if there was a state there, called lets says israline por pastael with no religion people might get along...
the problem is religion, so i think the best action would be to ban religion! all of them!
what about a religion of anti religion?
and sharon, is a terrorist, and even worst than Sheikh Yassin, because he uses the state to kill people... so then people complain that Sheikh Yassin sends people to blow up buses.... people that belong to the state of israel, even if they dont agre with what sharon is doing...
in a way its like in spain... the real "trouble makers" never get blown up... its always the people who they represent...
but again i think that the worst problem is state and religion being mixed....
