Logic is solid, but you can also use Garageband or Soundtrack. I bought soundtrackloops.com it forwards to my other loop CD site though. Depends on what you are looking to do? Sequence, Generate sounds, edit them..? Some do all them like Reason from Propellerheads at http://www.propellerheads.se etc. etc. You can use Cubase or Pro Tools as well.

cubase is coooooooool

Cubase has a big learning curve though, not very easy to use, even Cubase SX can be tricky as hell and that's their step-down version. You could try the Mac version of Sonar from Cakewalk. I've used it for PC and it works well. ;)

Logic is the best for OSX.

Either way you are going to want to work with .rex2 files. Rex-files allow you to tweak the hell out of your own loops or other people's loops and sequence them the way you want. It allows for pitch and tempo control without having to time-stretch shit. Also I would advise checking out Ableton Live at http://www.ableton.com which allows for total freedom of importing sounds and resequencing them. ;)

btw, you can easily use .wav files just as much as .aiff for Mac. They are pretty much the same, etc.
