Or maybe it wasn't saved with the same name. Sometimes an app will toss some strange name on a file when it auto saves.. easy to miss. Be sure to search for all Flash files on your HD.

It's a bug
That happened to me 2 weeks ago.
computer went to sleep and lost connection to the network - wok ei tup, reconnected.
couldn't save on the network or locally and when I quit it deleted the file off of the server.Pretty huge bug.
Flash deleted your file dude.
Email macromedia and report it.

What version of flash was it?
MX or MX 2004?

I posted this problem on were-here and they confirmed it has been a 'known issue' since flash THREE.
repairing permissions won't get it back.
Flash actually does DELETE the file.
It does it on a Mac or PC volume.
(I lost the file on a windows file server)

Thats outrageous! I've never heard of any app deleting a saved file off a disk unless you help it do so.
Sure the app can lose the curently open iteration of the file...or overwite the saved file with garbage (usually with your permission)..... but to go out and find and delete your saved version on it's own is just crazy...

Yes it is crazy. The first thing I did was a search and it's nowhere. I repaired permissions, no dice. Norton Utilities 8 won't recognize either of my drives, so that's useless.
I'm going to a backup file I had. It will cost me three days of work but it could have been worse.
The kicker is that it's my homepage Flash file and I lost my job yesterday.

How can Flash delete your file?
I didnt think any app has permission to go out and delete a file from disk? (It can of course totally forget/shred/mutilate the one it is working with in RAM, but thats something else altogether)

It was Flash MX 2004 Pro. My next step is to try repairing permissions.

Was it ever saved on your computer...anywhere?
or did it just arrive?
- CyBrainX0
Yes, it was saved, but when the drive disconnected for no reason. I couldn't save it and then when I quit Flash, it dissappeared.

Have you tried 'Find'
(maybe it isnt saved where you thought?)
