anyone know of anywhere i can get something to put turntables on with storage for records underneath? does this exist or do i have to get them custom built? any creative suggestions welcome, thanks!

i think milk crates were created for that sole purpose, never mind the lactose-hauling side jobs.

maybe i wasn't clear, i want a stylish solution. something that looks like furniture, not something that was thrown together

what up tara
i have a wrap around desk from ikea so i have my pc mac my turnables all sittin on it and all hooked up together. It was a little pricy. As in finding somthin that holds records i just use milk crates, looks cool under the table and of course u cant really see them. Its convient when u are grabbing the creates to get to your pieces. You can check this out to

look for dj accessories on the right. if you scroll down that page, you'll see a vestax table. it doesn't have any storage but you could get some hardcases

i see it now, thanks

hard to find off the peg to your own dimensions and when you do its usually more expensive. i'd suggest you find a local carpenter and give him a pic like this:

fairly strightforward and less than a days work. varnish/paint it yourself.

im mixing moda furniture and milk crates for a functional piece that looks real tight

yeahi hear ya, that's my other option. the turntables are the center of a big room so i want it to look good.

if you can get to the beams or joists in tyhe ceiling you could suspend an old door or table top from chains and stick the decks on that

gotta agree with the DIY way.
one of my matess drew plans for a unit against a wall that included double-decker record space under his decks and ample shelfing above for hifi seperates and cd storage.
he then worked out his size requirements and took spec to local B+Q (uk diy superstore) then they cut thick mdf to his sizes then he took it all home and put it together himself.
looks the business :)

yep that seems the way
the hanging from the ceiling thing
is way too ambituous for me and my boyfriend. i almost killed him last year while we were trying to hang drapes. we were both standing on a sofa. we were both holding the rod with very heavy long drapes on it trying to put them in the thing that holds the rod and i had to step down because i was losing my my balance but i accidentally stepped on the drape and pulled him down with it. he was like what are you doing?? and looked at me like i had just tried to take his life. things haven't been the same btw us since.
