so my first time in the Bay area for St. Patty's day. My brother from NY will be in town, and I'm looking for something sweet. What's the scene like? (i'm in the Peninsula, but can head up to the city.)
Do they dye the bay green here?
(We're both from Chicago)

the bay is already a dark green.
and in the afternoon it's a rich chocolate brown.

I don't know?
I don't ever remember St. Patty's Day being that big in the bay area, for some reason.

I have to react to this seen as I bored out of my mind here..
St.Patty's day? Saint Patty's day?? What the fuk???
No. 1 Its Saint Patricks Day, he was and is a legend you are plrivileged that we Irish have let the world embrace the fantastic drinking day that is the 17th of March..
No. 2 if you must shorten it please use the correct shortened version of "Paddy's Day" - he's wasn't a girl..

Simon, as one who has stood in awe of Croagh Patrick's Peak in the majestic boglands of Mayo, Clew Bay, and Clare Island... I offer my humblest apologies.
Although there is no excuse please let me try to blame language transliteration flexibility for my grave error.
Furthermore, let me declare in front of all that this thread now be called, "St. Paddy's in SF!"
Peace to you and yours.
And if you feel extra nice when mid march comes along, can you send a keg of Kilkenny to the states? Or convince Guiness to ship it here for good!

We all actually drink poitin (pronouced pucheen) over here when we want to go extra drinking! its a homemade drinks made unsurprisingly from potatoes! (its one of those things you find a bottle of in the top of your grandparents wardrobes when they die) and its lethal.. a sip and you'll go blind..
hmm kilkennys actually isn't really sold anywhere in Ireland cause its pish, I will however endeavour to bring kegs of whatever drink is wanted when I head over to San Francisco for the summer! though i may be stopped by customs
your apology is accepted!

pish or not, if you are able to get me some kilkenny, i will pay for it. i'll pay double what it costs you. flat out. double. bring a case! (although never seen it in a bottle)
and we can share a pint together when you get here.
cheers.
