Is it possible to launch a "Save As" dialogue box by clicking a button in the Flash Standalone Player?
I've seen it done using Director, but never Flash.

if you make a link to a ZIP file, for example, in the flash movie it should automatically open a save as dialogue box at least in windows... not sure about MAC but rpob the same.... What kind of file are you trying to save?

i know you can do it with just a text link (not a button or mc)... i'm not dead certain you CAN'T do it with a button or mc, but if you are able to use just text, click on the text you want the user to use to d/l the file, then in the properties inspector there's a chain link icon.. just put in the name of the file here and you're set (doesn't have to be zip or anything specific).

It would be a jpg file.

As for the "text" linking to open the "Save As" dialogue box, it doesn't. It opens the iamge in a new window, but thanks all the same.
Anyone else?

In the end the Dialog box is displayed by the users system (not directly initiated by your site), if the browser doesnt know how to handle a certain file type, or if the user has set their browser to download certain types of files rather than display them in the browser. You can only assume that most haven't changed the settings.

The user will not be using a browser, it will be a "Projector" file frmo Flash.
