and also, just so you know, i spent 10 years in quebec city as an anglo.. and my french sounds Parisian, as my father is French - and i learnt the language in France..
i was clowned and beat up for both of these facts..
not to mention i was also born in the states..lots of hate in Quebec - from all parties...
.... just so you know....
- nick0
ah yes, way to rise above it...

sorry to learn french kids marked you for like nick. they didn't have the right to kick your ass so badly that you remember that and share it with us
- oeuf0
Yeah, us Quebecers are really racist and we don't like english people, we don't like french people from France and we don't like blacks. Oh oh, and jews too. If we see one of you, we will surely spit on you, or even better, beat you up. Thats why Montreal is the most diverse city in Canada.

SERIOUSLY NOW:
everything is there >
http://partiquebecois.org/nv/ind…FIVE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE QUEBEC WANTS QUÉBEC TO BECOME A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY.
Read it, learn, understand, think about it, stop saying stupidity, respect people.

its ok - i dont really care.
but i'm just saying, there so much blatant hate on both sides.. that this argument is in vain.
Montreal is different from the rest of Quebec.. (there is a huge difference from even Quebec City, where the anglo/franco ratio is like 10x in favor of the francos)
i love Quebec, i really do.. and i love a lot of Quebecois people.. but there is ignorance on both sides.. and this is something that won't really change.. given the attitude of each of these sides..
- oeuf0
You are totally right nick.

ben, a good article.. but very vague..
is there a real proposal where the PQ outlines all the problems they will run into given sovereignty? (currency, military, trade, etc)
something i'd definetly like to take a look at.. because im from the school of thought that thinks Quebec will only shoot itself in the foot given its own nation..

back in the day, around the time of the last referendum, my wife (then girlfriend) was studying at lavale (sp?) in quebec city..
i used to travel there all the time to go see her..
has to be one of my favourite places in the world...
absolutely beautiful....
my french is pretty lousy, not having studied it past grade 9, but i did the best i could, and tried to use what little i remembered...
and * shock....horror*
the evil wicked francophones were maliciously cordial and polite to me!
how dare they!seriously folks..
there is more than enough morons and hyped up goofyness on both sides..
it's all media...i've met francophones here and was nice to them (didn't insult them, courteous etc.)
and the french folk i met in quebec city, or even as far as lac st. jean (which is absolutely a wonderful place to spend the summer...seriously) were perfectly nice to me...
jeez
you'd think by the way folk are talking here that we're at each others throats or something..
and aside from few hot heads (that no one really pays attention to) we're pretty decent to each other..

true story..
during the height of that referendum, when things were at there diciest, and passions and tempers were running high, i went up for a visit..
my wife's roomates brother was one of the student leaders for the seperatist movement.
(and was a great guy that was totally nice to me .by the way)
we all decided to go out for a drink to this (apparently) hotbed of radical political fervor...some pub on the second floor where they have live music (dude with a guitar singing pro-quebec songs of freedom or something)so we're sitting there getting drunk and i'm trying not to look to english (remember it was the height of the whole seperation thing)
and lo and behold..the dude with the guitar starts strumming somthing familiar..
wish you were here..by pink floyd.
brought down the house man..
every man woman and whatever else was singing those great lyrics in english...and suddenly none of that political stuff mattered anymore..proving once again, that some things indeed are universal..
if quebecers like floyd..how bad can they be?
;)

great story, ex!

huh... le début du video mpg était un peu bizzare. ca me faite pensé a des video de la deuxième guerre.
There is nothing that I love and respect more than someone who does makes a real effort to talk to me in french even thought I'm perfectly bilingual.
