Greetings,
I was wondering if CSS(for html text) work with the most popular broswers (Mac + PC).
I am constructing an HTML website but have heard that if I format the text with style sheets some browsers over ride them with the users default.
is this true?
Tanks

I dont think so. Only old browser will fuck it up. Like Netscrap4.0 and lower

I've never heard of a browser overwriting CSS?
I use 2 different files for mac & pc, because generally you need your fonts set a point higher for mac browsers.

CSS is standard... If someone happens to be using a browser old enough to not render it, they should be banned from the internet!
Some advanced features might not render, but for the most part your ok.

I run Safari and Firebird - both of which allow the user to set a default style sheet in preferences. Both of these browsers, as well as IE5.2, will allow users to scale text (as I think all browsers should). Overall, though, your text formatting should be fine above NN4.7 as few people probably use the style features.

css text formatting works across 99% of browsers and platforms anyway. it is the more advance features of css1 and css2 that browsers choke on.
as for "overriding" css, if you tell your browser to only use your default settings, then yes...your css will not render. mozilla, ie, opera, etc all have features that ask you if you want to use styles from the site or your own look for hyperlinks, text size and other minor display configurations.
mozilla and some standards compliant browsers offer the user the ability to create their own stylesheet for sites. so, they can specify text/font size and color.
if you don't know about css, then you should go read up on it before you start diving in.
http://alistapart.com/ is a good place to start, as is the http://w3.org/ and http://www.w3schools.com/.
css is common-place.
