I got an offer to design an online sex toy store. The price, so to say, is nice. And surprisingly, they want something sophisticated. I think i'm gonna go ahead and close my eyes on waht it really is and do it, but at this point I'd like most of the stuff I do to go into my portfolio, because I really dont have too much to show so far. So do you think it's advisable to put something like this in a profesional design portfolio, granted I make it look up to standards?

"granted I make it look up to standards"
the standards are the #1 problem

no. designers might think it ok but potential employers/clients may not. why corner yourself like that?
i say do it if you want to, but with the understanding that it should stay on the down-low. just make sure the following gigs are stellar and put those in your folio.

i meant my standards, not the standards of online sex toy stores.

design is design.
if it's a good piece of work why not.

I think if you take the right philosophy in portraying it, e.g. this is a "relationship enhancing" website, you can pull it off (no pun intentended) just don't reveal too much.

yeah. I'm going to try and make it as tame as possible, but sooner or later it has to come down to selling dildos.

i've used adult stuff in my portfolio before, but then again, now i work in gambling.

What's the big deal?
Body background 00000 and some random popups to dialers and shit, along with some links made with the h1 tag - all in yellow.
Then you're all set. Bear in mind this is the only e-biz that *actually* pays.

Just customize your portfolio for the potential client: If you th9nk it will offend, then leave it out. If not, put it in. Simple. If its an online folio, leave it out.

Fuck yeah, go for it. If it looks good at the end, put it in your portfolio.

remember, it's just business.
you have o lots of chances to succeed in this area if you promote yourself properly near the companies hiring this "kind" of webdesign..~

I mean we're talking about a sex toy store, right? Not old grannies inserting oversized dildos up their arses or anything.
- jox0
You said that Jnr!! Remember -YOU said it!
- Jnr_Madison0
That's the kinda work I'm looking for.

You could always put together a second portfolio. Either with a different domain name or in a hidden directory.

I think you'd be surprised. If the design is really stellar, people will appreciate it. I was a little nervous at first about putting the condom packaging that I did in my portfolio but it ends up being what people want to talk about the most.
go for it
