okay I have no clue about this.... so don't laugh.
Movies are often scanned at 2k
and I am wondering about what's the highest resolution that you could possible get from scanning 35mm film?how about scanning a 70mm film?
where is the limit?

this is one thing i've been wanting to ask too. But the other way around. If i render something in 3d and want it to end up on film, then what res should i use?

What are you working on?

what was the question, again?
- sajets0
who? me?
well i graduate this year and have a place in cartoon studio for making 3d backgrounds, and i was just wondering, what the res will be like, cuz i havent done anything for film yet.
And i need to know it also for my final project for school, which is a plastilina puppet movie, and i want to do it for film... or at least shoot it in digital, but in film res, so that maybe in a future when i have that money i'll let it print it on film

well...... i'd use 1k resolution
the vfx for Matrix Revolutions were rendered at 4k.... at least that is what i've heard
impressive.
- sajets0
4k...? explain?
- r_gaberz0
i think 2k is
2048 x 1536
so 4 k should be
4.....x ....... something
you get the idea
- sajets0
ummm... no
yes i do :) thanks

my question was actually... about how high you could scan a 35 mm strip....... theoretically
