You know how every profession is portrayed by "the one movie" that is totally inspirational, like Top-Gun for airforce jet pilots, "Wall Street" for stock brokers, Scarface for gansters.
Even when hackers get depressed they have a source to get pumped-up again when they watch "hackers", the matrix, or the groundbreaking 3D hacking techniques in "Disclousure".
What I need to know is, What movie serves as total inspiration for GRAPHIC DESIGNERS?
I want to see Al Pacino playing a graphic designer who kicks ass every time some dork client talks crap. Some director get a hold of Al Pacino and place him on this role. PLEASE!

Yeah, while we're at it, let's make movies about tax accountants and ditchdiggers!

Wasn't the guy from One Hour Photo a graphic designer?
I remember seeing a Mac somewhere..

40 days and 40 nights.
The guy plays a "Senior Designer" at a web-agency.
But it's definitly not motivational. The only good thing that I was left with after seeing it is was that I'd downloaded it and not spend money renting it.

robert deniro's girl in the movie heat was a designer

You know the movies were the druglord smacks the head of all these scientists that are making drugs illegally at his secret hideout?
Those scientists are actually graphic designers when they're not staring small-parts in those kinds of movies.

Office Space is always good

Bonseff- you're right, I remember the girl in HEAT. Actually, when she told him she was a graphic designer, DeNiro looked really impressed and said something like "Really? did you have to go to school for that"
I'm almost sure he said that line.
That girl designer is indeed important to the movie, because it is to her that DeNiro mentioned he has no family but he has a brother somewhere, which gives you clues that really Al Pacino-the cop IS HIS BROTHER. They are so alike, have the same issues, same personalities but on different sides of the law as they even told eachother. At the end they hold hands as Deniro is dying, because of their brotherly love even after Pacino shot him. That's it. HEAT is "the movie" for graphic designers to watch!

no soulfly..
there is another
(cue yoda moment..)NORTHSHORE!!!!!!!
c'mon..can't believe some of you folks didn't mention this one..
possibly one of the greatest 'summer' movies of all time.
about a young guy ( a graphic design student) that leaves the mainland after winning a surf contest in wave pool, to go to hawaii to compete at the pipeline classic at North Shore..it's like Karate Kid, but with surfing.
and they play a Killing Joke song in the soundtrack..how cool is that man?!!!along the way he meets a variety of cool and intersting people...
one being his mentor, a guy that designs surfboards (a shaper)
anyhow, the hero of the story pays for room and board by designing a new logo for him (which was pretty inspirational to me when i was bout 16 and first saw this movie..)a must see, and now available on DVD..
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093…"design me outa the picture, howlie"

Swimming With The Sharks (Kevin Spacey and Frank Whaley)... a must see for anyone chasing a career... dark comedy at it's best (more so than Office Space IMO)
some nice quotes:
"If you don't turn rebel by 20 you got no heart. If you don't conform by 30 you got no brain."
"What is it that you REALLY want?"
