i was just wondering what kind of inks people prefer to use for silk screening. are there any advantages of using one brand over another? any info would help for a nubie.
thanks.

wilflex...hands down.
altho the system cost me like 800 CDN to buy about 5 years ago.
can match any pantones, inks are mixed by weight using a base and pigment procedure...its all calculated using the wilflex software so you can mix only the amount you need to use...hence no waste or very little and you colours look the way they are supposed to.
also if you're selling you silk screen services using a good ink system is a good idea.

I used Nazdar 5500 series for my last posters... the inks are great but stinky.
You can use latex house paint; cleans up with water and can be thinned with glycerine or ink thinners made for water-based inks. It doesn't stink and is generally easier. Plus you can get cool colours from paint stores - just ask for their mis-matches.
