The winning design, announced last week is quite nice.

Tadao Ando should have won... [altough it didn't made the finalists]. minimalistic japanese approach cannot go wrong...
anyway I also liked this

Wow, that 'inversion of light' looks like the perfect place to drive in with a big bomb.
pretty though.

After the event I proposed 2 holes in ground exact inverse dimensions of WTC. I only mentioned it in small print on our website, though.

You might also solve the city's garbage problem with holes that deep, paul.

I visited Ando's Pulitzer foundation building in St. Louis and it was so great it nearly twisted my melon clean off

i attended the public hearings about the memorial proposals. it was clear that everyone wanted the footprints of the buildings to remain untouched. we wanted a vast grass lawn, but i guess it had to look fancy for some reason. that huge ass building next to it is a big mistake. keep the grounds sacred, not a symbol for corporate, capitalist hegemony. the majority of wtc victims' families stressed the desire for peace and humility.

Not really appropriate I don't think - but I love your site!
