I hear there are some nice people that go to a place called Cedar on University Place and like 11th every once and a while and have snails and drinks. Those guys are really cool. ;)

There are so many places in the city that I love, that it's too difficult to
name. here's my top five:1. South Street Seaport at sunset, with a gorgeous view of all three
bridges.
2. Washington Square Park on Friday in the evening. The musicians come out
of the woodwork.
3. St. Marks on a weekend. Perfect for people-watching. Get a front porch
seat at Yaffa Cafe.
4. Battery Park Rose Gardens. Tranquil and perfect for inspiration in prose.
5. The bench in the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian walk. Bring a
jacket and some hot cocoa.Shakespeare Gardens is definitely a sweetspot on the island. My buddy got
married there this July. Some nice pictures: http://www.jeffandmary.org/
You'd hardly believe it was in Manhattan, save for the ominous shadows in
the horizon.

nice one era.. they sound sweet spots, i'm taking my old man it's his second visit and my first, so i'm sure he'd appreciate that sort of thing.
what about more graphic/art/music/historical based areas?

excellent the White Horse also hosted the Welshman of the year award and Richard Burton has his own plaque. You'll love it, good pint of Guiness to and it was the fisrt bar I went to when I moved here from Scotland in 91.
