my G4 powerbook is 'freezing' over and over again when i switch from one application to another by clicking an open window, or when i switch from an app to the finder by clicking an open window in the finder.
after that i can move the mouse where i want, but can't select anything.
[it doesn't occur anytime i change app - but it happens every 10 minutes or something]
anyone experienced this before / know a solution?

Library might have gotten messed up or it just might be a corrupt file. I take it your running osX?

no - OS 9.2.2

upgrade, no memory leaks or buggered-ness with OSX.
have you stuck new ram in recently also?

between all apps or specific apps? if it's specific then throw away their preference files and restart.
if not, or if that doesn't fix it, try this. throw away these preference files: finder prefs, mac os prefs, system prefs. restart. while restarting reset the pram (command-option-p-r), hold these after the third startup chime then resume.
afterwards you need to redo some settings. so you're warned beforehand.
other things. did you do a virus check? what kind of apps are running? what are the startup files? any files that are booted that remain active without you knowing? could be something in the background screwing it up.

thank you paul,
i'll give it a try.first i have to backup everything.

you don't have to backup everything in order to do that. unless you want to reinstall your os. although, making backups is always smart. anyways, in what i posted just backupping those prefs is more than enough.
