Taxes: It's bad enough...

It's bad enough to pay taxes to the state and the federal level but yesterday I had to pay $170.87 to the worst, most corrupt city in the world, just because I'm a part time contractor with a couple of low paying freelance gigs.
Gotta vent.

In the city of Hell, it you're a multimedia earning between $5,000 and $100,000 you owe them $118.25 -- but I had to pay more apparently because they're corrupt.

yeah it hurts when you think about it.. With what I payed in taxes this year I could've bought a dual 2.2ghz G5, dual 23" cinema display, a 17" Powerbook. A big screen TV.. ok.. Im crying now

No, it doesn't. The government takes a piece of every transaction, forces it citizens to pay taxes on property they supposedly "own" and makes them pay for protection.

Umm.. the general idea behind it is that there should be no taxes and you only pay for what you use/want.
You're thinking of socialism. "You really don't deserve it, but if you must have it, give us a piece of the cake".

In addition to federal and state income taxes and social security, I have to pay many thousands each year for "business privelege tax"-- that's right, for the privelege of doing business in the city of Philadelphia-- and it's based on gross receipts!

Don't get me started. We have 75% tax on salaries, plus - you have to pay an additional 6% because you ARE paying salaries.

Move your corp to another (less evil) city. Some states have no income tax at all, and are much more business friendly. I work in FL but the corp is in Deleware. No state income tax and the Deleware corp saves thousands a year.
