yes but having them installed makes all that spam from Russia and Asia display a lot nicer...

Damn and DeLocalizer is not even tested on Panther yet.

delocalizer doesn't remove fonts, it removes language packs from the system... which take up a lot more space. not sure on the exact purpose of these, however I guess they include dictionary/rules etc for all languages installed. I tossed them with delocalizer as I knew i wouldn't be needing them, and they take up about a gig i believe. maybe less.
as for removing fonts... how is fontbook treating you? i heard good and bad things about this. I am not using panther yet...

Fontbook is great if you don't own that many fonts. However I like many people here have hundreds of fonts. Its usable.
I think I'm a bit spoiled by Suitcase and its autoactivation feature. (When I open an Illustrator project suitcase installs the needed fonts)
Also Fontbook is kinda slow on my new ALbook 1.25ghz

I have 250 fonts currently on my albook and its lightning fast...

yeah, i heard about performance issues... and thats not a slow machine by anyones standards. I have panther sitting here, and I don't know if i want to upgrade- I can't back up my HD and also can't afford to lose anything... and i dunno whether the speed benefit will be good enough... iMac g4 800

Also you use Fontbook?

I think I have some dirty fonts thats slowing down fontbook. I just went through all of my fonts and I had to delete like 150 of them because they were corrupt. Ive been using some of these fonts for years now.
Panther is worth the upgrade. But It is a major upgrade. I would wait to backup your drive.
