Anyone know what I need to cross the border form the US to Canada? I know yo used to be able to get into Canada with just an ID but I figured it might be a little tighter security these days.
Appreciate the help, partners.

I don't have a passport and I am headed there in 5 days. Does anyone know if a birth certificate works?

you don't have a passport???
don't rely on just a birth certificate. bring photo id too. and while you're at it, get a passport... i hope you don't plan on being jet set with that attitude..

um yeah canada isn't that hard to get into, you don't need a passport, hell even after sepember 11th they didn't check my shizzy. It's only the Yanks that are core about it. Which crossing are you taking? The smaller ones are even less core about it

Gotta have your passport. If you get lucky they may let you into Canada with only basic id, but there is a 80% chance when you try to go home, you will most certainly need one.

what since when, don't believe the hype you don't need a passport to get into canada. Hell it hasn't even passed yet that candians need a passpot in the states, it will happen but not for a few more months

ever since canada didn't go to war in Iraq, we been at war with you ess eh

Yeah it can't seem canada can't do anything right, not going to war, decriminalizing the "dope" let'n gay people get married, will we ever learn
- k770
homo's can't marry. that got squashed

bwah yeah they can

I dunno, it has been this way for awhile.
When I went to Chicago 6 months ago, I had to show my passport to both the Canadian and the American border crossing, same with when I went to New York last year. On the Chicago trip I watched some guy get sent to the back rooms when he did not have a passport on the US side...
I wouldn't risk travelling without a passport.
Soon not only will you have to travel with your passport, but all permanent residents of Canada will also have to have their PR-Card... I think that becomes manditory as of December 31.
It really is rediculous...

Yeah it's pretty funny how core it's getting, these new structures, the people that these systems are implimented for have alreadyfound ways around them, they only people it's hurting is the coman folk. These new rulese keep tourists out not terrorists.

A birth certificat and ID's is enough to get into the US from Canada, so I assume it's the same the other way around. I've enter the state multiple times since 2001 without a passport and I never had any trouble (and I've been to jail in the state...which should make it more difficult but I have no criminal record so I'm all good)

useless post ahead:
"tourists out not terrorists"
its funny how close the two words look. and yet how different they are
hey wayned you it was useless

If you are a student - make sure to bring your student card - it can really help crossing proving you're a student
